Here’s a detailed look at your early morning adventure:
Pre-Dawn (approx. 4:00 AM – time varies seasonally): You will be picked up from your hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and driven to the base of Le Morne Mountain.
Early Morning: Meet your guide, receive a safety briefing and equipment. You will begin the ascent under the stars, using headlamps to light the initial path.
Sunrise: You will reach the summit just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the lagoon, with views stretching to the neighboring island of Réunion on a clear day.
Morning: You will spend time at the summit, taking photos and learning from your guide about the mountain’s history and geology. You will then begin the careful descent back to the base.
Late Morning: You will be rewarded with a well-deserved packed breakfast or snack and then transferred back to your hotel, arriving by late morning with the entire day still ahead of you.
The hike is considered challenging and requires a good level of fitness. It involves steep, rocky sections and some basic rock climbing near the summit. It is not recommended for those with a fear of heights or serious mobility issues.
Essential items include sturdy hiking shoes with good grip, comfortable sports clothing, a small backpack with water (at least 1.5L), and a camera. We provide safety helmets.
